Animal Messengers

This week I read the 10th Insight by James Redfield. It is the sequel to the famous Celestine Prophecy. I got a lot out of both books and recommend them highly to you. One of the most interesting insights from the book is a Native American belief about the power of animals in our lives. They believe that animals come into our lives for a reason. Each animal has a specific meaning, purpose, and message.
For example, CATS heighten our intuition and activate self-healing. DOGS teach us about loyalty and unconditional love. OWLS are wise souls guiding us to strengthen our awareness and pay attention to our surroundings. HORSES give us strength, power and integrity. SNAKES represent our life force/potential. BUTTERFLIES denote transformation or change.

For many years, I have kept a dream journal. Animals are very symbolic in our dreams. When you analyze your dreams, look first at how the animal is interacting with you. How many animals are present? How do you feel vis-a-vis the animal? What does that animal represent in ancient folklore/dream books? Our dreams give us answers, they also indicate our emotional states. In some instances, they may even forsee a future event.
In your everyday life, pay attention to animals. Which animals are appearing around you "synchronistically"? Where are they guiding you? How are you interacting with them?
Animals appear for a reason. And they have much to say if we listen.

Recently, I created a new body of artwork with animals as the central theme. Here is one of my favorite images:
